Dicordant puruit aymmetry and eotropia in monozygou twin

PURPOE: To report the relationhip between infantile eotropia and aymmetry of monocular puruit tracking. DEIGN: Obervational family cae erie. METHOD: A twin pair dicordant for infantile eotropia wa confirmed by DNA analyi to be monozygou at 99.95% probability. Digitally ampled electro-oculographic recording of monocular horizontal puruit eye movement were performed for the twin and their orthophoric father. REULT: Mean directional aymmetry for right and left eye wa 31% and 5% for the eotropic twin, 10% and 8% for the orthophoric twin, and 5% and 6% for the father. The aymmetry wa tatitically ignificant only for the deviating right eye of the eotropic twin (P = 0.0217). CONCLUION: In thi family, monocular puruit aymmetry i probably not a heritable predipoition to infantile eotropia, but a conequence of early trabimu. Dicordance of infantile eotropia and puruit aymmetry in monozygou twin implicate environmental in addition to genetic caue
