Abstract
PURPOE: To report two cae of exudative idiopathic polypoidal choroidal vaculopathy treated by photodynamic therapy with verteporfin.
DEIGN: Interventional cae report.
METHOD: Two patient, a man aged 58 year and a woman aged 57 year, with recent viual impairment in the right eye (OD) (both eye bet-corrected viual acuity: 10/50 and Pelli-Robon contrat enitivity 1.35 and 1.20) and angiographically proved ubfoveal idiopathic polypoidal choroidal vaculopathy were treated with photodynamic therapy uing verteporfin (Viudyne; Novarti A, Rueil Malmaion, France). Functional and angiographic outcome were aeed 6 week and 3, 6, and 12 month after treatment.
REULT: In Patient 1, 3 month after treatment, bet-corrected viual acuity and contrat enitivity improved (10/16 and 1.50) and then remained table throughout the 12 month after treatment. In Patient 2, 6 week after treatment, viion and contrat enitivity were 10/20 and 1.35; and at 3 month, were improved and tabilized at 10/12.5 and 1.50. Angiographically, photodynamic therapy with verteporfin wa aociated with nonperfuion and occluion of the exudative polypoidal dilation. No acute recurrence wa noted during the follow-up period.
CONCLUION: In ubfoveal exudative idiopathic polypoidal choroidal vaculopathy, photodynamic therapy with verteporfin may be aociated with beneficial functional reult.
