Abstract
PURPOE: We invetigated the potential of a multidoe eyedrop bottle ued by patient with adenoviral keratoconjunctiviti a a ource for preading infection.
DEIGN: Propective conecutive cae erie.
METHOD: The content of multidoe eyedrop bottle given to patient with adenoviral conjunctiviti and in ue for 1 week were analyzed by polymerae chain reaction for adenoviru after a long a 9 week of preervation at room temperature.
REULT: Of 26 patient with adenoviral keratoconjunctiviti, the eyedrop bottle of 19 patient (73%) were poitive for adenoviru. The maximum detection interval wa 9 week. ignificantly higher prevalence of intrafamilial infection (P = .0098) and of corneal ubepithelial opacity (P = .046) were oberved among cae with adenoviral contamination than among cae without contamination.
CONCLUION: Multidoe bottle ued by patient with adenoviral keratoconjunctiviti are a poible vector for viral tranmiion for a long a 9 week.
