Tourette yndrome and iatrogenic eye injury

PURPOE: To decribe the circumtance aociated with eye injury from an ocular examination of two patient with Tourette yndrome. DEIGN: Cae report. METHOD: A 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old man had udden and unpredictable movement during an eye examination, cauing conjunctival laceration and hemorrhage abraion in the firt patient and a corneal abraion in the econd patient. REULT: With topical antibiotic for both patient and patching of the eye for the 24-year-old patient, healing wa uncomplicated. CONCLUION: Patient with Tourette yndrome are at rik of eye injury when an unanticipated tic movement occur during eye examination. Phyician precaution, particularly mental preparedne for udden jerking movement, hould be taken when examining patient with Tourette yndrome.
