Interlenticular opacification aociated with aymmetric haptic fixation of the anterior intraocular len

Purpoe To decribe the occurrence of interlenticular opacification in aociation with aymmetric haptic fixation of the anterior intraocular len in a patient who had two intraocular lene (IOL) inerted for axial hyperopia. Deign Obervational cae report. Method An 83-year-old patient underwent uncomplicated cataract extraction and piggyback IOL inertion. The poterior IOL wa placed within the capule, but one of the haptic of the anterior IOL wa inadvertently placed in the ciliary ulcu and the other in the capule. Reult Interlenticular opacification wa localized to the interlenticular area near the anterior len haptic placed within the capule and abent from the interlenticular area near the anterior len haptic fixated in the ciliary ulcu. Concluion Thi cae report upport the idea that ulcu placement of the anterior IOL help to prevent interlenticular opacification .
