An unuual cae of uveiti-glaucoma-hyphema yndrome

Purpoe To report a cae of uveiti-glaucoma-hyphema (UGH) yndrome in which anterior chamber paracentei led to the diagnoi of ickle cell trait. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 43-year-old Cuban peudophakic male wa een multiple time over a 3-year period complaining of floater and blurry viion in hi left eye. He wa noted to have an inferotemporally diplaced poterior chamber intraocular len and recurrent microhyphema with elevated intraocular preure (IOP) reading between 29 and 46 mm Hg with each epiode. He wa diagnoed with UGH yndrome. Poterior chamber intraocular len explantation and anterior chamber wahout wa performed. The aqueou fluid wa ubmitted for cytopathologic examination. Reult Potoperatively, the patient’ ymptom reolved and he had no further hemorrhage or elevated IOP reading. Cytopathology of the apirate revealed ickled red blood cell. Concluion Microcopic examination of aqueou fluid can be a valuable tool in diagnoing ophthalmic manifetation of ytemic dieae.
