In vivo obervation of internal limiting membrane in an eye with macular hole

Purpoe To determine whether an internal limiting membrane (ILM) in the foveal area with a full-thickne idiopathic macular hole (MH) wa intact. Deign Interventional cae report. Method The ILM wa tained with indocyanine green and peeled with forcep during par plana vitrectomy for a full-thickne MH with a cuff. The tained membrane over the MH wa carefully examined to determine whether a hole wa preent. Reult The ILM wa clearly oberved by indocyanine green taining during par plana vitrectomy; no hole wa detected in the membrane over the MH. Concluion A full-thickne MH with a cuff can occur in the abence of a hole in the ILM.
