Neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laer arteriotomy with embolectomy for central retinal artery occluion

Purpoe To decribe a patient with central retinal artery occluion uccefully treated with neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laer arteriotomy and embolectomy. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 77-year-old woman noted udden lo of viion after vigorou coughing. A central retinal artery occluion wa diagnoed. Four hour after ymptom appeared, arteriotomy and embolectomy with neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laer wa performed. Reult Diplacement of embolu outide the artery with return of retinal perfuion and recovery of viion. Laer treatment alo reulted in vitreou hemorrhage and fale aneurym formation of the central retinal artery. Concluion Neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laer arteriotomy in a patient with central retinal artery occluion reulted in extruion of the embolu, reopening of the central retinal artery, and return of viion. Thi technique warrant further tudy a a primary treatment for thi blinding diorder.
