Abstract
Purpoe
To decribe central corneal thickne among patient diagnoed with congenital aniridia.
Deign
Propective noninterventional cae erie.
Method
We identified patient carrying the clinical diagnoi of congenital aniridia and performed complete ophthalmic examination. Eye with known corneal pathology were excluded. Central corneal thickne wa determined a the mean of five meaurement per eye, acquired by matching ultraonic pachymeter at two clinical ite.
Reult
eventeen patient were identified at two ite; 32 eye qualified for incluion. The average central corneal thickne of the qualifying eye wa 631.6 ± 50.8 μM.
Concluion
Markedly increaed central corneal thickne appear to be a previouly unrecognized apect of congenital aniridia. Thi may lead to incorrect etimate of intraocular preure by applanation technique and highlight the importance of monitoring patient with aniridia for the development of glaucoma through regular goniocopy and optic nerve examination.
