Abstract
Purpoe
To report a cae of large bilateral intraocular foreign bodie mitaken for crytalline len on computed tomography (CT).
Deign
Cae report.
Method
A 24-year-old man wa referred after bilateral open globe repair following a motor vehicle accident. Preoperatively, the CT can had been read a “Right eye poteriorly dilocated len . . . No evidence of foreign bodie.”
Reult
The patient underwent left eye cataract extraction with removal of a 7 × 5 × 5 mm piece of gla buried in the crytalline len. The patient ubequently underwent right eye par plana vitrectomy, removal of another piece of gla meauring 6 × 5 × 5 mm, retinal detachment urgery, and corneal grafting.
Concluion
Current afety tandard require auto gla to fracture into piece of a pecific ize to minimize laceration and miile injury. Thee piece of gla may have a hape and ize imilar to the crytalline len but have higher radiodenity on CT can.
