The effect of corneal flap on optical aberration

Purpoe To evaluate the change in ocular aberration induced by corneal flap creation. Deign Propective interventional nonrandomized clinical trial. Method Thi tudy included 15 patient who were cheduled for laer in itu keratomileui. A naal hinge flap wa created, uing the Nidek MK-2000 microkeratome and then replaced without performing laer ablation. The ocular aberration were meaured before and after flap creation uing the Nidek Optical Path Difference canning ytem ARK-10000. Reult The root mean quare wavefront error of the higher-order optical aberration (third-, fourth-, fifth-, and ixth-order aberration) were not ignificantly altered at 1 week poturgery compared with the preoperative value (P > .35). Concluion Creating a corneal flap with the Nidek MK-2000 microkeratome did not induce change in higher-order optical aberration a meaured with the Nidek Optical Path Difference canning ytem ARK-10000 during the early potoperative period.
