Abstract
Purpoe
To evaluate the elf-ealing propertie of tandard clear corneal cataract inciion during two event: (1) application of mechanical external preure, or (2) controlled fluctuation of intraocular preure (IOP).
Deign
Laboratory invetigation.
Method
Eight freh human donor globe were prepared for Miyake video microcopy. A tandard two-plane 3-mm clear corneal inciion wa created and a 3 × 3-mm ponge oaked with India ink wa placed on the wound urface. One globe with a utured corneal wound erved a the control. A trancleral cannula wa inerted and connected to a bottle of aline. Intraocular preure wa modified varying the bottle height. External preure wa applied through manual contact on different region of cornea.
Reult
Four of even eye demontrated intraocular preence of ink, three of them after external manipulation and another after varying the IOP.
Concluion
elf-ealing propertie of unutured clear corneal wound were compromied in our model. Thee data may give inight into the poible mechanim involved in the inflow of extraocular fluid into the eye through clear corneal cataract inciion.
