Decreae of blue cone enitivity in acute idiopathic blind pot enlargement yndrome

Purpoe To determine the enitivity of the blue cone ytem by tatic perimetry in patient with unilateral acute idiopathic blind pot enlargement (AIBE) yndrome. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method Four patient with AIBE yndrome, aged 16 to 30 year, were tudied. Diagnoi of the AIBE yndrome wa baed on clinical finding including an enlarged blind pot without correponding ophthalmocopic change of the ocular fundu and with depreed multifocal electoretinogram. The viual enitivity and mean deviation (MD) were meaured by white-on-white (W/W) and blue-on-yellow (B/Y) automated perimetry. Reult The average difference in the MD between the affected and unaffected eye wa 4.87 ± 1.51 dB and 13.65 ± 4.19 dB for W/W and B/Y perimetrie, repectively. The difference between the two group of eye wa ignificantly greater for B/Y perimetry than that for W/W perimetry (P = .01). Concluion Our reult ugget that the decreae of blue cone enitivity i diffuely preent over the retina in eye with AIBE yndrome. We recommend B/Y perimetry a a enitive meaure to detect retinal dyfunction that i not detected by W/W perimetry.
