Diagnoi of metatatic carcinoma to the cavernou inu by computed tomograpy–guided fine-needle apiration

Purpoe To decribe a cae of metatatic lung carcinoma to the cavernou inu and orbital apex diagnoed by fine-needle apiration guided by computed tomography. Deign Cae report. Method A 52-year-old man who preented with right-ided ptoi and ophthalmoplegia wa found to have an enhancing ma of the right orbital apex and cavernou inu extending into the temporal foa on magnetic reonance imaging. Chet computed tomography revealed hilar adenopathy and a leion of the right lower lobe of the lung. Bronchial wahing and tranbronchial needle biopie of the lung were nondiagnotic. Computed tomography–guided fine-needle apiration of the temporal foa portion of the ma wa performed. Reult Biopy of the ma howed malignant cell conitent with metatatic non–mall cell lung carcinoma. Concluion Computed tomography–guided fine-needle apiration can be ueful in the diagnoi and management of ome mae involving the cavernou inu.
