Abstract
Purpoe
To report reult of treatment with a monoclonal antibody (infliximab) directed againt tumor necroi factor α in even patient with chronic and difficult-to-control idiopathic orbital inflammation (orbital myoiti).
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Retropective data were collected from even patient who had idiopathic orbital inflammation and who were evaluated at three medical center. All patient were treated with infliximab after the failure of traditional therapy, which included corticoteroid, radiotherapy, or anti-inflammatory chemotherapeutic agent.
Reult
All even patient had a favorable repone to treatment with infliximab. One patient with Behçet dieae required upplemental oral corticoteroid. Pain, welling, and need for concomitant corticoteroid were the primary meaure of treatment ucce. ymptom of comorbid dieae in four patient alo improved (Crohn dieae in two, Behçet dieae in one, and poriai in one). There were no untoward effect of treatment after a mean follow-up of 15.7 month (range, 4 to 31 month).
Concluion
Treatment with infliximab appear to offer another therapeutic option in cae of recalcitrant or recurrent idiopathic orbital inflammation in which conventional treatment fail.
