Poterior vitreou detachment and macular hole formation in myopic foveochii

Purpoe To report two cae of macular hole (MH) aociated with myopic foveochii (MF). Deign Interventional cae report. Method Two women preented with metamorphopia. Preoperative optical coherence tomography (OCT) howed an MH and MF. We performed vitrectomy, internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling and ga tamponade. Reult Preoperative OCT examination and intraoperative microcopic obervation revealed partial poterior vitreou detachment (PVD) at the poterior retina and vitreou trand adhering to the edge of the MH. The MF reolved in both patient, but the MH remained open potoperatively. Concluion Although the contribution of tangential traction cannot be excluded, the mechanim of MH formation in eye with MF may be anteropoterior traction via abnormal vitreofoveal adheion reulting from partial PVD.
