High-reolution ultraonography in central erou chorioretinopathy

Purpoe To invetigate the ue of high-reolution ultraonography for detecting choroidal layer abnormalitie in eye with central erou chorioretinopathy (CC). Deign Propective obervational cae erie. Method Optical coherence tomography (OCT) and high-reolution ultraonography with a 20-MHz immerion probe were performed bilaterally in 10 patient, of whom 5 were affected by unilateral active CC and 5 by unilateral cytoid macular edema (CME). Ten age-matched control ubject were alo invetigated. Reult Both OCT and high-reolution ultraonography howed a macular elevation in eye with CC and CME. High-reolution ultraonography ha hown evidence of a nonechogenic linear band under the retinal pigment epithelium in patient affected by CC. Thi could be found in neither patient with CME or in control ubject. Concluion High-reolution ultraonography can detect a nonechogenic pace conitent with hyperpermeability of choroidal capillarie in eye with active CC. hadowing by an altered retinal pigment epithelium cannot be ruled out, however.
