Abstract
Purpoe
To determine the effect of arteriovenou heathotomy on retinal blood flow (RBF) in eye with branch retinal vein occluion (BRVO).
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
even eye of 7 patient with BRVO underwent heathotomy and were followed for more than 6 month.
Reult
At 1 week potoperatively, the RBF in the affected veel wa ignificantly improved from 14.1 ± 5.7 to 27.3 ± 11.3 pixel2/ec (P< 0.01), and the foveal thickne (FT) wa ignificantly reduced from 536 ± 84 to 366 ± 134 μm (P = 0.03). However, the RBF wa reduced again to 11.7 ± 7.7 pixel2/ec at 1 month potoperatively, and the FT wa increaed to 424 ± 184 μm.
Concluion
Arteriovenou heathotomy led to a tranient improvement of the RBF and wa effective in reducing macular edema. It i not clear whether the tranient effect of heathotomy affect the long-term viual acuity and macular edema.
