A New Method for Comprehenive Bird’-eye Analyi of the urgically Excied Internal Limiting Membrane

Purpoe To invetigate the role of cell and extracellular matrix on the internal limiting membrane (ILM), we demontrated a new method for a comprehenive bird’-eye analyi of urgically excied ILM. Deign Laboratory invetigation. Method The ILM of an idiopathic epiretinal membrane wa fixed and pread out onto a gla lide, uing fine needle under a biomicrocope. The expanded ILM wa analyzed by light microcopy, immunohitochemitry, and canning electron microcopy. Reult The excied ILM could be unfolded and pread out a a flat heet onto the gla lide. Immunohitochemitry revealed that mot migrating cell were glial cell. canning electronmicrocopy revealed that the vitreou urface of the ILM wa mooth, in contrat to the rough retinal urface. The ILM howed abundant cellular migration a a continuou tratified cellular heet. Concluion Thi new bird’-eye-view obervation of excied ILM enable u to carry out comprehenive analyi of cellular ditribution from a temporal and patial perpective.
