  • Abstract
Purpoe To preent a cae of a child with an extenive facial hemangioma in whom the upicion of intracranial involvement wa raied by viual evoked potential (VEP) evaluation. Deign Obervational cae report. Method VEP analyi wa performed uing flah and pattern timuli to determine whether treatment intervention other than occluion therapy wa needed. Reult VEP analyi indicated a marked tranoccipital aymmetry in the flah and pattern VEP uggetive of right hemipheric dyfunction. Neuroimaging howed intracranial extenion of the hemangioma. Concluion The VEP evaluation i a noninvaive technique performed in the awake child. Thi cae highlight the uefulne of VEP analyi in the management of extenive periocular capillary hemangioma and it ue a a modality to identify potential intracranial involvement. Large plaquelike facial capillary hemangioma may have poible underlying dural involvement uggetive of PHACE yndrome.
