Abstract
Purpoe
To invetigate whether the peeled internal limiting membrane (ILM) contain cellular retinal cell fragment, and to learn more about their poible origin.
Deign
Experimental tudy.
Method
ILM peeled from ten eye during vitrectomy by infracyanine green (ICG) wa tudied immunohitochemically uing the marker: GFAP, -100, and vimentin. Five ILM pecimen were from eye with diabetic macular edema (DME), two from eye with a macular hole, and three from eye with periting macular edema after retinal detachment urgery.
Reult
In eight of the ten ILM pecimen, we found GFAP-poitive taining, indicating the preence of remnant of footplate from Müller cell or glial cell. Two ILM pecimen were poitive for -100, indicating the preence of neural cell or ganglion cell.
Concluion
ILM peeled from the retina during vitrectomy uing ICG may contain remnant of Müller cell footplate, neural cell, and ganglion cell
