Vitamin E in the Treatment of Uveiti-Aociated Macular Edema

Purpoe To invetigate whether high-doe α-tocopherol (vitamin E) could reduce viion lo and retinal thickening aociated with uveiti-aociated cytoid macular edema. Deign A double-maked, randomized tudy. Method Uveiti patient with macular edema een at the NIH were randomized and received either 1600IU/day of vitamin E or placebo for 4 month. Viual acuity and retinal thickening were collected for the efficacy and the afety of the high doe of vitamin E. Reult Change in viual acuity and retinal thickening. Concluion Four-month oral upplementation with 1600 IU/d of vitamin E had no apparent effect on uveiti-aociated macular edema or viual acuity in thi mall tudy.
