Ocular Manifetation of Congenital Inenitivity to Pain With Anhidroi Original Reearch Article

Purpoe To decribe ocular manifetation in Japanee patient with congenital inenitivity to pain with anhidroi (CIPA), focuing particularly on the tatu of the ocular urface. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method Eighteen patient with CIPA underwent applicable ophthalmologic examination, including viual acuity, refraction, lit-lamp examination, fundu examination, tear breakup time, chirmer 1 tet, corneal enitivity, and corneal topography. Reult uperficial punctate keratopathy (PK) wa oberved at the interpalpebral area in 23 (64%) of 36 eye. Corneal opacity wa oberved in three eye (8.3%). Tear breakup time wa below the lower limit of the normal range in all examined eye, and the value of chirmer 1 tet wa above the lower limit of the normal range in mot of the examined eye. Concluion uperficial punctate keratopathy i oberved in mot cae of CIPA, which might predipoe patient to corneal infection. Invetigation of dry eye in patient with CIPA will provide unique opportunitie to explore the critical role of the autonomic ympathetic nervou ytem a well a the enory nervou ytem in the phyiology of tear production.
