  • Abstract
Purpoe To report optical coherence tomography (OCT) hitologic correlation of three common peripheral retinal leion and to explore the feaibility of the ue of OCT to image retinal pathologic condition in fixed tiue pecimen. Deign Experimental tudy. Method We tudied peripheral retinal leion that were available to u in 11 formalin-fixed cap of even human eye that had been enucleated previouly for choroidal melanoma. OCT can were performed through thee leion, and the image were correlated with correponding hitologic ection. Reult Three peripheral retinal dieae that included cytoid degeneration, localized retinal detachment, and paving tone degeneration were imaged uccefully, and their optical characteritic correlated well with their hitologic data. Concluion We explored potential utility for OCT imaging of peripheral retinal pathologic condition in fixed tiue pecimen. That thee OCT image correlate with finding from hitologic ection ugget a poible role for OCT in the eye pathology laboratory.
