Combined 50- and 20-MHz Frequency Ultraound Imaging in Intermediate Uveiti

Purpoe To evaluate the information provided by multifrequency ultraound examination in patient with intermediate uveiti. Deign Propective obervational cae erie. Method High-reolution ultraonography with 50- and 20-MHz frequency immerion probe wa performed in even eye of five young patient with clinical diagnoi of intermediate uveiti. Reult Exudative material over the inferior par plana and peripheral retina (nowbank) wa found in all eye with 50- and 20-MHz probe, although reolution of the latter wa poorer. The 50-MHz imaging wa uperior for viualization of angle tructure and detail of par planiti; the anterior vitreou involvement and cyclitic band were better hown with the 20-MHz probe, which could alo evidence cytoid macular edema. Concluion Ultraound examination with both 50- and 20-MHz frequency probe can detect the typical nowbank in intermediate uveiti and be ueful in eye with mall pupil, dene vitreiti, or both, epecially before par plana vitrectomy or cataract urgery.
