Pilot tudy on In Vivo Evaluation of Retinal Vacular Maturity in Newborn Infant in the Context of Retinopathy of Prematurity

Purpoe To tudy the extent of retinal vacularization at birth. Deign Propective maked obervational cae erie. Method One hundred ten neonate, at different week of getation and birth weight (BW), had dilated fundu evaluation for zone of retinal vacularization by a maked oberver. Maternal and neonatal factor were acertained by a maked pediatrician. Reult Irrepective of rik factor, eight of nine babie who were born at <30 week of getation and at <1500 g BW had immature retina. Thoe babie who were born at >34 week of getational age and at >1700 g BW had mature retina. Babie who were born between 31 to 34 week of getation and at 1501 to 1700 g BW had variable extent of retinal vacularization at birth. Vacularization wa affected by maternal anemia and the need for oxygen for >48 hour. Concluion There exit coniderable variability in the extent of retinal vacularization in infant who are born between 31 to 34 week of getation. Modifiable maternal and fetal factor could influence extent of thi vacularization birth.
