  • Abstract
Purpoe To compare the effect of autologou erum veru hyaluronic acid for the treatment of epithelial corneal leion in patient uch a diabetic with reduced wound healing. Deign Propective, randomized, maked clinical trial. Method Diabetic patient undergoing par plana vitrectomy motly combined with cataract extraction and intraocular len (IOL) implantation who received corneal abraion for better intraoperative viualization were included in thi tudy. A tandardized 8-mm diameter corneal abraion wa performed. Patient were randomized into one group treated with hourly application of autologou erum and another treated with hyaluronic acid drop (Vilube). Beide the time neceary for cloure of the corneal epithelium other parameter uch a patient’ age, gender, duration of urgery, hitory of diabete, and current HbA1C were evaluated. Reult A total of 23 patient were enrolled (15 men, eight women); the autologou erum group conited of 13 patient, the hyaluronic acid (Vilube) group conited of 10 patient. Patient’ mean age wa 64.8 year; mean duration of diabete wa 19.4 year. On average, the operation lated 145 minute. Mean epithelialization time wa 7.1 day in the hyaluronic acid group. In the autologou erum group, epithelium healed after a mean of 4.3 day. Mann-Whitney U tet for tatitical analyi howed a ignificant difference of epithelial cloure time between both group (P < .05); therefore, the tudy wa topped after treatment of 23 patient. Concluion It appear that autologou erum lead to a much fater cloure of corneal epithelial wound after abraion compared with artificial tear.
