Abstract
Purpoe
To evaluate the complication of herpe zoter ophthalmicu (HZO) in children.
Deign
Propective-obervational cae erie.
Method
Ten healthy patient (five boy, five girl) with HZO were propectively followed. Data regarding bet-corrected viual acuity, biomicrocopy, intraocular preure, corneal enitivity, and funducopy were collected. The median duration of follow-up wa 19 month (range eight to 78 month).
Reult
The mean age at preentation wa 8.7 year (range two to 14 year ±3.95). At lat viit, two patient (20%) had decreaed viual acuity and nine (90%) had ome degree of abnormal corneal enitivity and corneal opacity depite good final viual acuity.
Concluion
In general, HZO eem to have a good prognoi in healthy children; nonethele, ome cae can preent evere eye complication cauing viual lo.
