Phototherapeutic Keratectomy With Intraoperative Mitomycin C to Prevent Recurrent Anterior Corneal Pathology

Purpoe To determine the afety and efficacy of the ue of intraoperative mitomycin C (MMC) during phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) for anterior corneal dieae. Deign Retropective conecutive cae erie. Method Retropective chart review of 13 eye from 12 patient with variou anterior corneal diorder who had phototherapeutic keratectomy with the ue of intraoperative MMC from July 2001 to preent. Data on healing time of epithelial defect, complication, and recurrence of dieae were recorded. Reult Average time to heal of the epithelial defect wa three day, no patient had corneal or cleral melting, and, a of the printing of thi report, no patient ha had recurrence of dieae in the MMC-treated area. Concluion MMC i afe for intraoperative ue during PTK and doe not appear to inhibit epithelial healing and may help prevent recurrent anterior corneal dieae.
