Eterified Etrogen Combined With Methyltetoterone Raie Intraocular Preure in Potmenopaual Women

Purpoe To invetigate the effect of eterified etrogen combined with methyltetoterone (EECM) (Etratet, olvay, Pharmaceutical, Inc, Baudette, Minneota, UA) on intraocular preure (IOP) in potmenopaual women. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method The IOP of 13 conecutive potmenopaual women with dry eye yndrome were recorded before and during EECM therapy (1.25 mg of eterified etrogen and 2.5 mg of methyltetoterone for everal month). Reult The mean IOP increaed from a baeline of 15.0 mm Hg before treatment to 18.2 mm Hg on EECM therapy (P < .0001) after a median duration of 11.3 month (range, 0.9 to 24 month). The increae in IOP wa tatitically ignificant at the 0.05 level of ignificance within three month and continued over 12 month. Two patient whoe preure increaed (>4 mm Hg) returned to baeline level after EECM wa dicontinued. Concluion Eterified etrogen combined with methyltetoterone produce a clinically ignificant increae in IOP in potmenopaual women with dry eye yndrome.
