Abstract
Purpoe
We tudied the relationhip between high myopia and the MMP3 and TIMP1 gene.
Deign
Cae-control tudy.
Method
We enrolled 150 high myopic individual (≤ −6 diopter) and 262 control (≥ −1.5 diopter) initially, and another 216 cae and 474 control were enrolled for genotyping promiing polymorphim for replication. Thirteen polymorphim were genotyped in the initial data. Logitic regreion wa ued to tet for genetic effect. ubet analye were performed according to the education level and family hitory.
Reult
There wa no ignificant aociation between any polymorphim and high myopia in the initial data. Among the highly educated ubject, the 5A/6A polymorphim at the MMP3 gene uggeted a potential relationhip with high myopia, and it wa genotyped in the follow-up ample. However, thi polymorphim failed to how any ignificant reult in the overall ubject.
Concluion
The two gene may not play a crucial role for high myopia in young Taiwanee men.
