  • Abstract
Purpoe To evaluate the efficacy of par plana vitrectomy with infracyanine green (IFCG)-aited internal limiting membrane peeling for the treatment of idiopathic macular hole. Deign Propective, noncomparative interventional cae erie. Method Thirty-eight conecutive eye of 35 patient with idiopathic macular hole were included in the tudy. Patient underwent early treatment diabetic retinopathy (ETDR) viual acuity examination, dilated ophthalmocopy, and optical coherence tomography before treatment and during follow-up. Fluorecein angiography wa done in elected cae. Patient underwent a three-port par plana vitrectomy with complete poterior hyaloid and epiretinal membrane removal. The internal limiting membrane (ILM) wa tained with 0.5 cc of IFCG (0.5 mg/ml, 308 mOm) and peeled up to the vacular arcade. Perfluoropropane ga (C3F8) 10% wa ued a tamponade. Reult Mean follow-up duration wa 10 ± 5 month (range, 3 to 24 month). ix eye had tage 2 macular hole, 15 eye tage 3, and 16 eye tage 4. Overall, 37 of 38 macular hole cloed after a ingle urgery. Median viual acuity wa 20/100 (range, 20/400 to 20/50) before urgery and 20/50 (range, 20/640 to 20/25) after urgery. Viual acuity after urgery wa 20/50 or better in 24 of 38 (63.1%) eye. Twenty-five (65.8%) eye improved by 2 or more line, nine (23.7%) eye were table, and four (10.5%) eye worened by 2 or more line. Concluion Thi tudy ugget that IFCG (0.05%) effectively tain the ILM with apparent afety, and that IFCG-aited peeling of the ILM may be ueful in the treatment of idiopathic macular hole.
