  • Abstract
Purpoe To evaluate long-term follow-up of Intac microthin precription inert (Addition Technology, Inc, Fremont, California, UA) for the management of keratoconu. Deign A long-term (five year) retropective, follow-up tudy. Method eventeen eye of 15 patient with keratoconu age 24 to 52 year (mean age ± tandard deviation [D], 34.0 ± 10.5 year) who had completed five year of follow-up (mean follow-up ± D, 67.2 ± 7.5 month; range, 58 to 78 month) were included. Two Intac egment of 0.45-mm thickne were inerted in the cornea of each eye, aiming at embracing the keratoconu area to try to achieve maximal flattening. Reult No late potoperative complication occurred in thi erie of patient. At five year, the pherical equivalent error wa tatitically ignificantly reduced (pre-Intac, mean ± D −5.54 ± 5.02 diopter [D]; range, −12.50 to 3.63 D; −3.02 ± 2.65 D; range, −8.25 to 1.88 D) (P = .01). Pre-Intac uncorrected viual acuity (UCVA) wa 20/50 or wore in all eye (range, counting finger to 20/50), wherea, at the lat follow-up examination, 10 (59%) of 17 eye had UCVA of 20/50 or better (range, counting finger to 20/32). ix eye (35%) maintained the pre-Intac bet pectacle-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) and one eye lot 3 line of BCVA, wherea the ret of the 10 eye (59%) experienced a gain of one up to 8 line. Concluion After five year, intracorneal ring egment implantation improved UCVA, BCVA, and refraction in the majority of the keratoconu patient. There wa no evidence of progreive ight-threatening complication in thi tudy.
