Binaal Viual Field Defect from imultaneou Bilateral Retinal Infarction in ickle Cell Dieae

Purpoe To report a cae of retinal occluive dieae producing binaal viual field defect in a patient with ickle cell (C) dieae. Deign Retropective cae report. Method A 21-year-old man with C dieae preented with binaal field defect and 20/20 acuity in each eye. Reult Initial ophthalmocopy and fluorecein angiography revealed no abnormalitie. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) demontrated bilateral temporal inner retinal hyperreflectivity, and multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) confirmed retinal dyfunction. everal week later, ophthalmocopy and angiography demontrated macular arteriolar occluive dieae. Concluion imultaneou bilateral macular occluive event are uncommon in patient particularly with C dieae. Although the binaal field defect raied the upicion of a proce affecting the optic nerve, the OCT and mfERG proved eential in diagnoing retinal rather than optic nerve dieae.
