Rubella Viru–Aociated Uveiti in a Nonvaccinated Child

Purpoe To report preumed Fuch heterochromic uveiti (FHU) aociated with Rubella viru (RV)-pecific intraocular antibody production in a child who wa not vaccinated againt rubella. Deign Obervational cae report. Method We examined a 13-year-old boy with chronic anterior uveiti complicated by mature cataract. Two aqueou humor (AH) ample taken with an interval of four week were analyzed for intraocular antibody production againt RV by calculation of the Goldmann-Witmer coefficient. Reult The patient howed all the clinical ign for FHU: iri atrophy, tellate keratic precipitate, and cataract. Analyi of the AH demontrated intraocular antibody production againt RV in two equential ample. Concluion The data how that RV-aociated uveiti can already preent during childhood. Moreover, thi finding ugget that nonvaccinated children may be at rik to develop uveiti after RV infection.
