  • Abstract
Purpoe To evaluate the efficacy of uing the big-bubble technique of deep anterior lamellar keratoplaty (DALK) for newer indication. Deign Propective, noncomparative, interventional cae erie. Method Ten eye of eight patient with pathologie involving the corneal troma and paring the Decemet membrane (DM) were included in thi tudy conducted at a tertiary care hopital. The indication for DALK included corneal clouding attributable to mucopolyaccharidoe (n = 2), macular corneal dytrophy (n = 5), lattice corneal dytrophy (n = 1), granular corneal dytrophy (n = 1), and tromal car attributable to infectiou keratiti (n = 1). DALK wa performed uing the big-bubble technique in order to achieve the complete eparation of DM from the corneal tromal tiue in the recipient’ eye. ubequently, the corneal tromal tiue wa excied completely, and a full-thickne donor corneal lenticule without it DM wa ecured over the bared DM of the hot. The main outcome meaure of the tudy were the ability to uccefully bare DM, the gain in viual acuity, and the preence of any complication. Reult Uing the big-bubble technique, DM wa bared, and DALK could be performed uccefully in all eye. No intraoperative or potoperative complication were oberved. All patient achieved a bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) of 20/40 or better at the end of ix month. Concluion DALK uing the big-bubble technique can be ueful in treating corneal tromal dytrophie, corneal clouding attributable to mucopolyaccharidoe, and tromal car attributable to infectiou keratiti.
