Apolipoprotein E Polymorphim in Patient With Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma

Purpoe To invetigate apolipoprotein E (APOE) polymorphim, which are known to influence the rik of Alzheimer dieae (AD), in patient with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). Deign Retropective cae-control aociation tudy. Method Patient with POAG (n = 242) and control (n = 187) were analyzed for the APOE epilon (Poron)2/epilon (Poron)3/epilon (Poron)4 polymorphim uing miniequencing technique. Reult The Alzheimer-aociated APOE epilon (Poron)4 allele had imilar frequencie in the POAG group and in the control group. There wa no difference between cae and control with regard to APOE genotype. Concluion If a common pathogenic mechanim exit for the two age-related neurodegenerative dieae, POAG and AD, it doe not involve APOE polymorphim.
