Abstract
Purpoe
To report on the development of viually ignificant maculopathy aociated with blood–brain barrier diruption (BBBD) therapy for the treatment of central nervou ytem (CN) lymphoma.
Deign
Retropective cae erie.
Method
Chart review of 20 patient undergoing BBBD therapy for treatment of CN lymphoma at the Cleveland Clinic. Patient with documented maculopathy were included in analyi.
Reult
even (54%) of 13 patient were identified with new macular retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) change after BBBD treatment. The RPE change conited of fine clump of hyperpigmentation in the foveal region aociated with variable degree of RPE lo. Thee change were bilateral but often aymmetric. Two patient had decreaed viual acuity reulting from maculopathy. One patient had documented progreion of maculopathy after completion of treatment.
Concluion
Maculopathy i a frequent finding after BBBD therapy for CN lymphoma.
