Abstract
Purpoe
To compare the mydriatic efficacie of mit and drop delivery of tropicamide 1.0%.
Deign
Randomized, maked, active, controlled clinical trial.
Method
One hundred ubject were randomized to receive mall-volume (6 μl) mit adminitration of tropicamide 1.0% in one eye and either nothing or a conventional drop (30 μl) of the ame olution in the fellow eye.
Reult
Comparing mited eye with untreated eye in the ame ubject, the mean maximal increae in pupil diameter in the mited eye wa 2.02 mm and wa 0.25 mm in the fellow eye. The difference i tatitically ignificant (P ≤ .001) Comparing mit-treated eye with drop-treated eye in the ame ubject, the mean maximal increae in pupil diameter in the mited eye wa 1.98 mm and wa 2.11 mm in the drop-treated eye. The difference wa not tatitically ignificant (P = .051).
Concluion
mall-volume mit and conventional drop delivery of tropicamide 1.0% were hown to be imilar in mydriatic effectivene.
