Abstract
Purpoe
To determine the feaibility of gamma knife radiourgery (GK) in the treatment of ymptomatic choroidal hemangioma (CH).
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Three patient who had CH were treated with GK. Ophthalmologic examination revealed ubmacular fluid collection and retinal detachment aociated with CH in all cae. GK wa performed a an initial treatment in two cae of circumcribed CH and a econdary treatment after failure of photocoagulation in the other diffue CH.
Reult
The follow-up period ranged from 18 to 36 month, and viual acuity of the affected eye wa improved in all cae. The volume of CH and ubmacular fluid collection were decreaed. There were no advere effect of radiation uch a retinopathy or optic neuropathy.
Concluion
GK may be a ueful alternative treatment for ymptomatic CH that are difficult to be managed with a tandard therapeutic option uch a photocoagulation.
