  • Abstract
    Purpoe To ae the neuroretinal rim hape in a population-baed tudy. Deign Population-baed, cro-ectional cohort tudy. Method The Beijing Eye tudy included 4,439 ubject with an age of 40+ year. On color optic dik photograph of a random ample of 92 ubject (92 eye), neuroretinal rim width and area were meaured in different dik ector. Reult The neuroretinal rim wa ignificantly (P = .038) wider in the inferior dik region (0.52 ± 0.11 mm) than in the uperior dik region (0.49 ± 0.10 mm), where it wa ignificantly (P < .001) wider than in the naal dik region (0.47 ± 0.09 mm) and wa ignificantly (P < .001) the mallet in the temporal dik region (0.40 ± 0.12 mm). The rim wa ignificantly wider inferiorly (“I”), followed by the uperior dik region (“”), the naal dik region (“N”), and finally the temporal dik region (“T”) [INT] rule defined a the rim being larger inferiorly than uperiorly, being larger than naally and being larger than temporally, wa fulfilled in 48 (52%) ubject. Concluion In adult Chinee a in Caucaian, the neuroretinal rim uually follow the INT rule.
