Abstract
Purpoe
To tudy the inner urface of the retina in the preence of epiretinal membrane (ERM) uing a prototype pectral-domain optical coherence tomography (D-OCT) device.
Deign
mall cae erie, performed in the Department of Ophthalmology, Bacom Palmer Eye Intitute, Miller chool of Medicine, Univerity of Miami, from Augut 2005 through December 2006.
Method
An 8-μm axial-reolution D-OCT intrument wa ued to can the eye of patient diagnoed with ERM. The ERM and the internal limiting membrane (ILM) were egmented eparately to evaluate the traction caued by the ERM on the retina. It wa then poible to recontruct the ILM and ERM urface in 3-dimenional pace and to obtain correponding retinal thickne map.
Reult
D-OCT B can howed the point of attachment of the ERM to the ILM. egmented urface map of the ERM produced very mooth heet, wherea thoe of the ILM preented wrinkle under and around the ERM.
Concluion
D-OCT revealed the geometry of retinal traction in eye with ERM and may be ueful in undertanding further the pathologic feature of thee leion.
