  • Abstract
    Purpoe To ae and compare the frequency of reflex neezing occurring during periocular anethetic injection with and without intravenou edation. Deign Retropective, comparative cae erie. Method even hundred and twenty-two patient undergoing oculoplatic urgical procedure were included in thi tudy. Thoe who received a periocular anethetic injection under intravenou edation erved a the tet group of 381 ubject. Thoe who received a periocular anethetic injection without intravenou edation erved a the control group of 341 ubject. The abence or preence of reflex neezing in both group wa recorded and compared uing Chi-quare analyi. Reult Of the 381 patient who received periocular anethetic injection under intravenou edation, 19 (5%) exhibited a vigorou neeze. Converely, none of the 341 patient who received periocular anethetic injection without intravenou edation neezed (P ≤ .001). Concluion urgeon, anetheia taff, and other operating room peronnel hould be aware of thi unuual and potentially dangerou neeze phenomenon when periocular anethetic injection are delivered under intravenou edation to reduce potential ocular complication.
