  • Abstract
Purpoe To decribe a method to obtain image of the choroid uing conventional pectral-domain (D) optical coherence tomography (OCT) and to evaluate choroidal thickne meaurement uing thee image. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method The image were obtained by poitioning the D OCT device cloe enough to the eye to obtain an inverted repreentation of the fundu in healthy volunteer who did not have pupillary dilation. even ection, each compried of 100 averaged can, were obtained within a 5- × 15-degree rectangle centered on the fovea. The choroidal thickne under the fovea in each image wa meaured by independent oberver. Reult The choroidal thickne could be evaluated in every ubjectʹ choroidal image. The mean choroidal thickne under the fovea wa 318 μm in the right eye and 335 μm in the left eye. The choroidal thickne howed a high correlation in both eye (r = 0.82; P < .001). The correlation between the meaurement performed by the independent oberver wa highly ignificant (right eye, r = 0.93; left eye, r = 0.97; P < .001 for both). Concluion Thi method provide detailed, meaurable image from the choroid, a tructure that heretofore ha been difficult to image in clinical practice.
