  • Abstract
Purpoe To ae the time coure of accommodative function after Implantable Collamer Len (ICL) implantation and to invetigate the relationhip between patient age and accommodation in ICL-implanted eye. Deign Propective, nonrandomized clinical trial. Method We propectively examined 69 eye of 40 conecutive patient with myopic refractive error of −3.25 to −22.75 diopter (D) who were undergoing ICL implantation. We aeed the amplitude of accommodation uing an accommodometer before and one, three, ix, and 12 month after urgery. We alo invetigated it relationhip with patient age. Reult The accommodation wa 6.36 ± 3.94 D (mean ± tandard deviation) before urgery and 4.89 ± 2.72 D, 4.98 ± 2.67 D, 5.16 ± 2.72 D, and 5.72 ± 2.85 D at one, three, ix, and 12 month after urgery, repectively. The variance of data wa tatitically ignificant (P = .02, repeated-meaure analyi of variance). Multiple comparion demontrated ignificant difference between meaurement made before urgery and at one month after (P = .004, Fiher leat ignificant difference tet), before urgery and at three month after (P = .007), and before urgery and at ix month after (P = .01). There wa a ignificant correlation between patient age and accommodation before (Pearon correlation coefficient, r = −0.665; P < .001) and one year after (r = −0.803; P < .001) ICL implantation. Concluion Accommodation wa impaired traniently in the early potoperative period, and then recovered gradually over time, indicating that tranient dyfunction of the ciliary mucle by ICL fixation may occur after ICL implantation even if the crytalline len remained intact. A patient aged, the amplitude of accommodation became ignificantly maller not only in normal eye but alo in ICL-implanted eye.
