The Cochrane Column

In this issue’s review of the latest Cochrane systematic reviews, three are presented. The first one deals with the appropriateness of prophylactic antibiotic prescription to cirrhotics in order to prevent spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. The second assesses the current evidence of the efficacy of anti-viral treatment on prevention of post-herpetic neuralgia and the third one addresses the current evidence for use of carnitine in inborn errors of metabolism.
