Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during two successive seasons (2001/2002 and 2002/2003) to investigate the effect of irrigation water quantities on yield and yieldʹs components of two sesame (sesamum indicum L.) cultivars, namely: Khidir and Promo. Five water quantities were used (750, 650,550,450 and 350 mm).The results showed that the highest water quantity (750 mm) significantly increased the number of capsules per plant, number of seeds per capsule, 1000 seed weight (g), seed yield per plant (g) and seed yield (t/ha). On other hand, cultivars had insignificant effect on seed yield. The second water quantity (650mm) had the highest harvest index.
