Abstract
Estimation of electric potential due to dependent of many electrical components to this parameter is one of the most significant issues in electrical engineering. In this work, two powerful analytical methods are investigated to analyze the electrical potential in 2D plate with infinite length. One is Heʹs variational iteration method (VIM) and the other is Heʹs homotopy-perturbation method (HPM). VIM is used to construct correction functional using general Lagrange multipliers identified optimally via by means of the variational theory, and the initial approximations can be freely arbitrarily chosen with unknown constants. HPM may be used to transform a difficult problem into a simple problem which can be easily solved. Comparison of this new method with finite element method (FEM) is applied to assure us about the accuracy of solution
