Abstract
A 28 compartment liquid-liquid extraction Rotary Disc Contactor (RDC) with 9.1cm inner diameter was used in the experiments. The amount of static hold-up in five specific locations, for six specific speeds and three different sizes of droplets by using Water-Toluene chemical system based on single-droplet experiments was measured. Five correlations between the amount of local static holdup, drop diameter and rotor speed were proposed to estimate the amount of static hold-up in different locations of the column
