Abstract
In this study we evaluate allelopathic effects of seed, stem and root aqueous extract of F. gummosa at three concentrations (2.5, 5 and 10 g L-1) on seed germination and seedling growth of three weeds (common amaranth, purslane and wild barley) with pre and post-emergence method. In pre-emergence method, all parts extracts at most of concentrations significantly inhibited germination percent, germination rate, radicle length and hypocotyl length. In post-emergence method root and stem length, dry and wet weight of receiver weeds inhibited by F. gummosa part extract. Our results suggest that F. gummosa is an allelopathic plant that can be considered as a source of allelochemical, Further one of main reasons dormancy of F. gummosa seeds is presence of inhibitor compound.
